Rescue and Adoption
Program Information
Our Rescue, Rehabilitation and Adoption program was created as a safety net for elderly companion animals in jeopardy reported to our Animal Assistance Hotline. Although we always try to help people continue to care for their companion animals, there are times when that is impossible. The cats and dogs we take in are given medical attention and rehabilitation. While awaiting adoption, they are fostered in homes and are advertised on our specialized Petfinder website and in local newspapers.
They are also shown at our Weekly Adoptions.

Our Adoption Process
People interested in adopting one of our animals are asked to fill out a pre-adoption form. Our Director of Adoptions and Rescue, Gabriela Garcia, will review the application, and then conduct a phone interview and a home check. Please call Gabriela at (310) 392-5153, Ext. 3#.
When an animal is adopted, the new guardian signs an adoption agreement, which states that an animal must be returned to Voice for the Animals if the guardian is unable to keep him/her at any time in the future.
We Need Foster Parents
We also have a continuing need for Foster Homes. This is ideal for those who wish to take care of cats or dogs, but who are unable to keep them permanently. Call Gabriela at (310) 392-5153, Ext. 3# to find out more. You can also find more info on the Foster page.
Animals that Need a Home
 |
Fifi and Pippi
These gorgeous 11-year-old sisters are losing their home to foreclosure. Will you be the one to give them a second chance at happiness? |
 |
Kimba and siblings
VFTA is in the process of rescuing a litter of 4 kittens (approximately 6-weeks-old as of 2/8/12). Though they cannot be adopted until they reach 8 weeks, we are currently accepting Pre-Adoption Applications.

Gidget
Gidget (2 years old, DMH, female) is a petite princess. She was recently discovered by her rescuer’s landlord and needs a new home. Time is of the essence!

April
We think that April is Lady’s daughter, which makes April’s puppies Lady’s grandchildren! April is incredibly sweet and would love nothing more than to sit on your lap and watch the world go by. She is great with children and would make a wonderful addition to any family. |
 |
Lady
Lady is a mellow girl. She is shy around strangers at first, but quickly decides that your lap is the ideal place to chill out. We hope that Lady can go to a calm, easygoing home. After the crazy life she’s had, we’d say she deserves it! |

Recently Adopted
 |
Blue (now “Yankee”)
For months, Blue watched and waited patiently as his 7 siblings all found forever homes. At six months old, with a sunny and loving nature, everyone knew the right family was bound to come along at any moment. Kris, Chelia, and Chelia’s daughter spotted his photo online and knew he was the one! Blue, now “Yankee,” has made himself right at home. |
 |
Nala and Kai
Nala, Kai and their four companions were taken in by a good samaritan who quickly realized the financial burden of caring for multiple cats. Staci and her daughters met these two at our Sunday Adoptions and it was love at first sight. |
 |
Elvis
Elvis was part of the same rescue group as Nala and Kai. Gregg and Jill saw his photo in the Argonaut newspaper and knew he would be the perfect addition to their two-cat household. |
 |
Snowball
Snowball and his siblings were rescued by a good samaritan who soon found his household overrun with kittens. Connie met Snowball at our Sunday Adoptions and fell in love with him instantly. Snowball now enjoys a calm and loving home with just one feline companion. |
 |
Rocky and Bullwinkle
Rocky and Bullwinkle were found roaming the streets by a VFTA board member. Christen offered to foster, but soon grew attached and decided to adopt. |
 |
Sid & Rio
When Sid & Rio’s long-term foster was no longer able to take care for them, Roxanna took them into her home. Roxanna developed a deep bond with Sid & Rio, and decided to adopt them after only one month of fostering.
