VOICE FOR THE ANIMALS IS SUING LOS ANGELES ANIMAL SERVICES TO RETURN AMBER AND MARISA!

Amber and Marissa are 2 bonded sisters rescued by Voice For the Animals from a high kill shelter. Last fall a man adopted them, and then abandoned them at the West LA shelter.

Amber and Marissa were both microchipped to VFTA. Through the chip information, Found Animals notified us that they were at WLA shelter and ready for us to pick them up. But by the time we received this information, the West LA shelter had already adopted them out FOR FREE, never having contacted us.

Although Animal services was very promptly notified of this problem, LAAS has refused to lift a finger to recover these two bonded sisters and return them to us.

Los Animal Services did NOT even read their own policy!! They gave away Marisa and Amber ILLEGALLY!!

LAAS’ standard operating procedures says CLEARLY: Policy No. 220295P sets forth the Department’s duties in the event of an animal ownership dispute. That policy, which has been on the books for nearly thirteen years, provides that where a microchip exists, the most recent registered owner of the microchip shall be deemed the owner of the animal(s). It is indisputable that VFTA owns Amber and Marisa.

Please sign the petition to Mayor Garcetti telling him that as animal lovers, we find it deplorable that these people, who the city is paying and are in charge of animals’ lives, have not even bothered to read their OWN policies!!
