Billy and Tina, two beloved elephants of Los Angeles, were SHACKLED, LOADED QUICKLY INTO A TRUCK, AND transferred from the LA Zoo to the Tulsa Zoo IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, denying them the chance to live out their lives in the wide-open space of a true sanctuary.
Councilmember Bob Blumenfield introduced a motion to demand answers about this troubling decision. But he was denied the opportunity to receive full, transparent responses from Zoo Director Denise Verret
Now, we are calling on Councilmember Harris-Dawson to place Blumenfield’s motion on the Council Agenda immediately. The people of Los Angeles—and Billy and Tina—deserve honesty, transparency, and fairness.
This petition is supported by an extraordinary coalition of celebrities, lawmakers, animal welfare leaders, and organizations, all united in their demand for accountability. But we need your voice too.
👉 Sign now to urge Councilmember Harris-Dawson to bring this motion forward and ensure the truth is heard.
Dear Councilmember Harris Dawson,
We respectfully request that you place Cm. Blumenfield’s motion on the Council Agenda as soon as possible. In Los Angeles, we strive to be a city of honesty, transparency, and kindness. Cm. Blumenfield was not afforded the time nor opportunity to receive full, clear, and transparent answers to his questions from Denise Verret regarding her decision to move Tina and Billy to the Tulsa Zoo as opposed to a sanctuary that would have afforded them much more space.
